Electronics and Power Systems Department Technical Intern
Worked within the Electronics and Power Systems Department on circuit validation, PCB design, and automated testing workflows related to aerospace power electronics and relay characterization.
- Analyzed, simulated, and breadboarded a differential amplifier sub-circuit to validate proof-of-concept operation.
- Modeled the temperature coefficient of eight KKDL relay segments for 5 A and 20 A configurations using temperature-versus-resistance measurements across repeated test cycles.
- Developed a Python interface for a 5 kΩ electronic load and power supply setup to automate solar-array IV curve characterization, while also creating a manual measurement procedure using a decade-box resistor.
- Designed schematic captures in KiCAD v6 for a 32-capacitor stress-test board and a Device Under Test (DUT) current-sense board.
- Investigated Gerber compatibility issues between KiCAD v6 and a Voltera PCB printer, documenting a validated workaround using Gerbv for other engineers to follow.
